SPCA Wake is currently closed to the general public.
So now what? Well, we have an idea...
Since you can't visit the pets, we're bringing the pets to you! Yes, we are broadcasting SPCA adoptable pets to you via Facebook live stream. Once a week at 2 PM an SPCA staff member will tour the adoption center meeting with each adoptable pet. (Keep posted on our Facebook page to find when, and to see the previous videos)!
Essentially, SPCA Wake is creating a version of the Home Shopping Network, called the Home Adopting Network while the adoption center is closed to the public, to curb the spread of COVID-19. Potential adopters will be able to communicate directly with the camera operator, asking questions about specific pets, requesting belly rubs, or deliver treats on the viewer’s behalf.
With current events, there is a lot unknown in the world right now. SPCA Wake’s Home Adopting Network hopes to showcase adoptable pets, bring joy and smiles to the community while showing the lifesaving work continues no matter what – and the animals need their ongoing financial support.
“This spring we had to make the hard decision to reroute two large fundraising events. One of which typically raises over $250,000 for the pets and people in our community. The financial loss of these events is a serious blow to our programs and services, which is why now more than ever, our community’s support is needed,” says Darci VanderSlik, SPCA Wake Spokesperson. “The goal of the daily Home Adopting Network stream is two-fold: to find homes for our pets, and to show how donations are needed to continue this work,” VanderSlik continued. “Can’t adopt today? Make a donation toward a pet’s care instead!”
Interested Adopters should fill out the adoption survey, and email it to appointments@spcawake.org. Don't have access to email? Leave us a voicemail at 919-772-2326 (we will check it periodically throughout the day. Please know that email is the fastest and the preferred method of scheduling).
