Our Impact
Your support in action.
Since 1967, the SPCA of Wake County has worked alongside our community to support the most vulnerable pets with compassion and care so they can enjoy a brighter future.
Behind every number is a real pet, person, or family whose life has been touched by your support. Together, we're finding loving homes, providing essential veterinary care, and helping families keep the pets they love.

How We Make a Difference
Rescuing Vulnerable Lives
We partner with shelters across North Carolina to save pets at risk of euthanasia due to overcrowding or limited resources. At SPCA Wake, these pets are given specialized care and whatever time they need to find loving homes.
Finding Loving Homes
Our staff, fosters, and volunteers provide individualized care to help each pet and prepare them for adoption. Once each pet is ready, we help guide interested adopters to make great matches that set both the pet and family up for success.
Prevention at the Source
Our programs are designed to address the root causes of shelter crowding and pet surrenders. Low-cost spay/neuter and wellness care, pet food assistance, and personalized support help prevent unwanted litters, keep pets healthy, and help families stay together.
Behind the Numbers
Steward's Path to Recovery
When Steward arrived at SPCA Wake in September 2025, he was severely emaciated and in critical condition. He needed specialized veterinary care, careful monitoring, and time to heal.
Our veterinary team developed a recovery plan tailored to his complex medical needs. Over the following months, Steward grew stronger under close medical supervision before moving into the care of a foster family.
Today, Steward is at a healthy weight — more than double what he weighed when he first arrived. He's stronger, brighter, and enjoying a much healthier life.
Steward's journey is a reminder of what compassionate care and community support can accomplish. In 2025, thousands of pets like Steward received the help they needed at SPCA Wake, thanks to people like you.
