GUEST VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES & INSTRUCTIONS
INTERESTED IN BRINGING A GUEST WITH YOU FOR A VOLUNTEER SHIFT?
Thank you for your interest in bringing a guest with you to your volunteer shift! Please see the guidelines and protocols for bringing a guest with you to your shift. Please be sure to follow all instructions to bringing a guest with you. There are guidelines for bringing Adult Guests and Youth Guests, please complete all requirements before bringing a guest with you.
The gratitude we feel towards our volunteers can never truly be placed into words, and we hope that no matter what life brings that when you are here, you feel valued, appreciated, and loved. Because we really do love our volunteers, and we cannot do this without them!
Adult & Youth Guest Volunteer Requirements:
- Volunteers that want to bring a Youth or Adult Volunteer must be at least 18 years old. Adult/Youth Co-Volunteer Teams are not permitted to bring a guest with them to their shift.
- Must be able to work well with others and independently (Under direct supervision of the SPCA Volunteer).
- The SPCA Volunteer must complete all required training and at least 3 Volunteer Team Assignment Shifts before bringing their guest with them to a shift.
IMPORTANT:
Unfortunately, we are not currently able to accommodate your Guest Volunteer with:

Guidelines for Bringing an Adult Guest to Your Volunteer Shift
You must be at least 18 years or older to volunteer at the SPCA. | |
The SPCA welcomes Guests in many volunteer team assignments. | |
Adult Guests that are 18 years or older, may participate with an SPCA Volunteer if the following guidelines are followed and understood by Adult Guest/SPCA Volunteer Teams: | |
1. | Only 1 Guest per Adult Volunteer is permitted at this time per shift.
Please only bring one Guest with you for a shift. |
2. | The volunteer must understand that they are responsible for completion of the Volunteer Team Assignment. |
3. | The assignment must be suitable for Adult Guests. See volunteer table below for details. |
4. | Guest must have an up-to-date signed waiver on file. |
5. | Guest must be under the SPCA Volunteer’s supervision at all times, and follow instructions given by the adult and staff. |
6. | Guest must not be rowdy or loud. |
7. | Guest must not be alone with any animal at any time. |
8. | When working with dogs, SPCA Volunteers must maintain control of dog at all times. The Adult Guest may not hold the leashes or be left in a room or on the yard alone with any of the dogs or puppies. |
Please follow these guidelines, if you bring more than one Guest for a shift, this not only is unfair to those Volunteers that are following these guidelines, but we put these guidelines in place for Safety reasons, please follow them for the safety of the pets and people at the SPCA. |

Guidelines for Bringing an Youth Guest to Your Volunteer Shift
You must be at least 18 years or older to volunteer at the SPCA. | |
However, the SPCA welcomes and encourages the involvement of younger volunteers in many volunteer team assignments. | |
Youth Co-Volunteers (7-17 years old) may participate with their parent or guardian if the following guidelines are followed and understood by Adult/Youth Volunteer Teams: | |
1. | Only 1 Youth Co-Volunteer per Adult Volunteer is permitted at this time per shift.
Please only bring one youth co-volunteer with you for a shift. |
2. | The adult must understand that they are the primary volunteer and is responsible for completion of the Volunteer Team Assignment. |
3. | The assignment must be suitable for Adult/Youth teams. See volunteer table below for details. |
4. | Youth must have an up-to-date signed waiver on file. |
5. | Youth must be under the adult’s supervision at all times, and follow instructions given by the adult and staff. |
6. | Youth must not be rowdy or loud. |

10. | When the youth volunteer reaches the age of 18 years old and they want to have their own account, they may complete the orientation and refresher training.
