The SPCA of Wake County is thrilled to share that we’ve received a $15,000 grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization!

This generous grant will allow SPCA Wake to provide additional veterinary care for senior dogs, such as dental care and bloodwork. Since senior dogs are often overlooked due to concerns over unknown medical issues, the care made possible by this grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization will empower adopters, reduce barriers to senior dog adoption, and help to reduce their time in the shelter.

Luka is one of the dogs already benefiting from this grant. Since Luka is ten years old, we want to make sure we know about any senior-related health issues that might be lurking beneath the surface — or to get confirmation that he has a clean bill of health! This funding allowed our team to run a full blood panel for Luka, which will help our veterinary team provide the best care possible and will also be a tool for his future adopters.

“We are so grateful to The Grey Muzzle Organization for investing in senior dogs at SPCA Wake,” says Gwyn Schuler, Donor Relations Manager. “This grant will allow us to offer additional medical care, which will help improve their quality of life and will help them connect with a family who loves them.”

Thank you again to our friends from The Grey Muzzle Organization; with their help, SPCA Wake is making an even greater difference for senior dogs in our community!
