Overlooked Pets
Important Update: Temporary Changes to Adoption Hours Due to Parvo Outbreak
Out of an abundance of caution following a recent case of canine parvovirus, the SPCA of Wake County is temporarily adjusting our operations:
Cat and small animal adoptions by appointment only will begin Wednesday, April 30.
Dog adoptions by appointment will begin Saturday, May 3.
We will fully reopen to the public on Thursday, May 8.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we perform critical deep cleaning and continue lifesaving care for the animals in our shelter.
Please note we now use a paperless, appointment-based adoption process for your convenience. You can now automatically place a pet on hold — wherever you are — by using our online adoption survey.
Thank you for thinking about an Overlooked Pet!
Adopting an overlooked pet can be one of the most rewarding choices you make. These animals are often passed by for reasons beyond their control—maybe they're older, have a unique appearance, or simply don't stand out in a crowded shelter. But behind those quiet eyes is a loyal companion ready to give unconditional love. By choosing a pet who's been waiting, you're not just giving them a second chance—you’re gaining a grateful friend who’s been patiently hoping for someone just like you.
If you have any questions regarding a overlooked pets, please call our adoption team at (919) 772-2326, ext. 2070 or email adoptstaff@spcawake.org
