A Race Against Time for Little Kimmy

When a Life Hangs in the Balance, We Rally

At just 13 weeks old, Kimmy should be chasing toys, wrestling with her puppy friends, and devouring crunchy treats without a care in the world. Instead, this bright-eyed, playful pup is facing a life-threatening challenge—and time is quickly running out.

Kimmy was born with a rare and dangerous condition called persistent right aortic arch (PRAA). It’s a congenital defect where her aorta developed on the wrong side of her heart, causing a ring to wrap tightly around her esophagus like a garden hose pinched between two hands. Because of this, Kimmy physically cannot swallow solid food. Every mealtime is risky and difficult.

But even in the face of this frightening diagnosis, Kimmy’s spirit shines.

A Puppy Who Refuses to Let Go of Joy

From the moment Kimmy arrived in our care, her joyful, affectionate nature captured the hearts of everyone she met. She’s a happy-go-lucky girl who greets every new face with a wagging tail and sparkling eyes. In her foster home, she’s been endlessly patient and gentle with the elderly resident dog, and she’s won over not one, not two, but three cats—including a pair of curious, hairless sphynx cats and one fluffy feline who’s constantly stealing her spot on the couch.

Her favorite things in the world are new toys, snuggles, and attention from her people. No matter how hard her days have been, Kimmy greets each morning with hope in her heart and a positive attitude.

A Handmade Chair and a Temporary Solution

To help Kimmy survive while we fight for her future, one of our compassionate staff members built a special feeding chair just for her. In their free time, they lovingly crafted the chair from scratch—a beautiful purple seat that allows Kimmy to sit upright while eating. This position lets gravity help what little food she can manage safely reach her stomach.

It’s a touching act of kindness and ingenuity. But as much as we love this little chair and what it represents, it’s only a temporary fix. Kimmy cannot live like this forever.

The Surgery That Could Save Her Life

Kimmy urgently needs a specialized surgery to correct her PRAA. The procedure will carefully remove the constricting ring of tissue around her esophagus, giving her the chance to eat normally, grow, and live the long, playful, love-filled life every puppy deserves.

Without this surgery, Kimmy’s prognosis is grim. She’s already struggling to get the nutrients her growing body so desperately needs, and over time, the risks of aspiration pneumonia, severe malnutrition, and other complications will only increase.

The cost of this complex, life-saving surgery is significant—but we refuse to give up on Kimmy.

This Is Where You Come In

Right now, your support can make the difference between life and death for this extraordinary puppy.

When you donate towards Kimmy’s care, you aren’t just funding a surgery. You’re giving a spirited, affectionate puppy the chance to grow up. To chase after balls in the yard. To steal socks. To sprawl out in sunny spots and snooze after a good play session. To love and be loved, for years to come.

Your generosity powers every life we save and makes it possible to say yes when a life is hanging in the balance.

Please consider making a donation today towards Kimmy’s surgery and ongoing care. Every gift brings us one step closer to the happy ending she so deserves.

Thank you for standing with us—and with Kimmy—in this critical moment.
