Ed Sheeran loves cats. He has two of his own. So when he was coming for his concert at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina, surprising him with cats seemed like a paw-some idea...and boy was it!
Curtis Media, which owns Pulse FM, has been a long-time partner with the SPCA of Wake County. Pulse FM had a backstage interview with Sheeran and contacted the SPCA of Wake County to ask about bringing some kitties along to surprise him. Sheeran's management team was in the know and excited about the surprise. When we got there, word
traveled fast. Somebody spilled the beans about kittens being in the hallway and Ed Sheeran ran out to meet them! He was smitten and we can't blame him!
He also snuggled with one of the kittens during his interview with Judd from Pulse FM.
We know all about Ed Sheeran, but who are these two adorable (and now famous) kittens? Caspian and Lil' Possum! (or Little Opossum).
This pair of kittens are two are of at least seven that the SPCA of Wake County has rescued from a local horse farm so far this year. There are still several other kittens at the farm and we are working with the owners to catch them, spay/neuter them and help them find forever homes. It's a win for the farm as we are helping them cut down on the cycle of kitten litters and a win for the community, which has a chance to adopt these cuties. We are also working with the farm to help spay/neuter some of the adult cats on the property as part of our Working Cat Program.
Caspian and Lil' Possum are a bonded pair and will be available to adopt later this week. If you are interested in adopting these kittens, you can go ahead and meet with Adoption Counselors to start the adoption process prior to their spay/neuter surgery and official availability.
Even if you're not in a place to adopt, there are still plenty of ways to help! There will be lots of work to take in and prepare for adoption the additional cats from the farm where we found Caspian and Lil' Possum. If you would like to donate toward their care, you can make a donation online.
