This is the time of year when many of us think about how lucky we are and how we can give back. Here are a few tips for maximizing your impact this holiday season.

AmazonSmile

It’s basically Amazon, but when you shop through AmazonSmile, a portion of the sales is donated to the nonprofit of your choice. Just search for us by our nonprofit ID: 56-0891732 or by our long name: The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Wake County, Inc.

Holiday Gifts

Symbolic Adoptions make meaningful gifts for just about anyone on your shopping list. They’ll give the warm-and-fuzzies to your neighbor, coworker, brother, mother-in-law, and even your third uncle twice-removed. Each Symbolic Adoption comes with a holiday card, an adoption acknowledgment certificate, and a photo and bio of the pet you symbolically adopted. Click here for purchasing and more information.

More Holiday Gifts

If you’re shopping for a beloved pet, consider looking for toys, treats, and other pet supplies at the SPCA Retail Store. All proceeds support the SPCA’s mission to transform the lives of pets and people. We also have t-shirts, candles and other gifts for the humans. Click here for store photos, hours, directions, and product information.

Giving Tuesday

Donations of supplies are always appreciated, but monetary donations are priceless. I know that seems counter-intuitive, but monetary donations allow us to purchase what we need as we need it based on expiration dates and available storage space. It allows us to take advantage of special nonprofit discounts and purchase items the general public might not be able to (like prescription food or medications). Giving Tuesday (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving) is a great day to make a donation in honor of a beloved family pet.
