Craft Beer Helps Save Homeless Pets

Nickelpoint Brewing Company, located in the Five Points neighborhood in downtown Raleigh, is known for its quality craft beers and inventive beers. Now, they are also known as benefactors of pets in need with their new beer: Big Ear Blonde Ale.

Nickelpoint Brewing Co. created and named the beer and designed the label to honor a dog named Katie.

Katie earned this distinguished honor as part of a live auction package her owners, Laura and Mike, won at the SPCA of Wake County’s annual Fur Ball Gala last fall.

The beer’s label and name pay tribute to Katie’s two main features: her beautiful big ears and gorgeous blonde coat.

Nickelpoint Brewing hosted a launch party in April for Katie and the beer. Fans of beer and rescue dogs lined up to get the widely-appreciated crisp blonde ale.

Ten percent of all sales from Big Ear Blonde are donated back to the SPCA. It is being sold at stores across North Carolina.

Nickelpoint is currently working on a second custom beer featuring a dog named Rocky, with the launch party this October 19. Check spcawake.org/events for details.
