12 Strays of the Holidays
A holiday wish to be noticed...
This year, COVID-19 has turned everything upside-down - even the way adopters can find their future family members at the SPCA. As a result, our pets have only been able to make their first impressions online, and many wonderful dogs have been overlooked by families who simply aren't able to walk through our halls and fall in love face-to-face.
In order to help these dogs stand out, we are offering 50% reduced adoption fees for every dog below. We've also made holiday stockings stuffed with gifts to go home with each dog - they just need a home and a tree to unwrap them under! Help us get these dogs home for the holidays!
Please note: Some dogs may show they have an Adoption Pending, but this is not a guarantee their adoption will finalize. If you are interested in adoption and wish to meet them in person, please don't hesitate to submit your adoption survey!
Roxie

Tennis-ball-loving goofball Roxie was rescued from the county shelter where she had ended up after both her owners passed away around the same time, and she's been at the SPCA waiting for her new family to find her for a long 4 months. Brahms has been waiting for a home since early October. He was originally found as a stray in June but was adopted and returned when his family didn't feel he was the best fit. He absolutely loves fetching tennis balls and playing in the pool! He can sometimes feel a little nervous around new people, but once he learns you're his friend he'll love you more than the world. Austria came to us from the county shelter in September with her 2 five-week-old nursing puppies. Both puppies have been adopted, and Austria is hoping soon she'll be adopted too! She is energetic and absolutely loves attention and cuddles. Your home may be perfect if you have no other pets - she'd like to be your one and only. Happy & wiggly Mercedes loves playing and running zoomies! You'll often see her sprawled out frog-legged! She's very treat-motivated and will gladly sit on command. Maximo was rescued from the shelter in late August after he had been found as a wounded stray. He's since healed up and has been waiting for a home ever since. Maximo is incredibly playful and can be quite high energy, so he's hoping there's an active family out there with room in their home so he can come along for the ride! Wizard has been with the SPCA since early August waiting for his future family to come along. He originally came to us from the county shelter after he was found as a stray. He loves tennis balls and butt scritches! He previously suffered from heartworm disease but has recently completed his treatment through the SPCA! Libby was surrendered to the vet by her owners as a euthanasia request because they could not afford medical care, but luckily the SPCA swooped in to give her another chance. Libby loves playing with other dogs and walks beautifully on leash. She's also very smart and knows a number of tricks! Almost-senior gentleman Ollie needs somebody to give him a chance so he can live out his retirement days in the comfort of a loving home. We rescued Ollie from the county shelter where he had been surrendered because his owners had become too elderly to care for him anymore. Ollie is frequently described as "all-around wonderful"! Carter & Phillie are sisters and the best of friends! They've never been apart and are looking for a home together. These 2 lovely girls were adopted from us as puppies but returned as adults due to no fault of their own. They are reportedly good with children and dogs, although they don't like meeting other dogs through a gate or fence. They are lower energy and tend to keep each other occupied. Sweet Hershel quickly became a staff favorite at the SPCA. We rescued him from the county shelter where he was surrendered because his owner had to move into assisted living and was heartbroken to learn she couldn't bring him along. Hershel loves chasing after tennis balls, but he thinks bringing them back is just silly! He gets playful moods but this mellow man is usually seen lounging around happy as a clam.
